The Olympic Games By Raymond

My favourite moment at the Olympic Gmaes was when Usain Bolt came first in the 100m sprint. He has now got 3 gold medals in a row. Usain Bolt is the fasted runner in the world. When he was runing the 100m he beat the world recod time in 9.63secs, which was very fast. When Usain Bolt lifted his feet off the blocks the time started. He felt pumped up and he never wanted to let someone else win.

The Olympic Games by Alyssa

My favourite moment from the olympic Games was the hockey. I dont know who won but it was good and i enjoyed watching the games. Someone got whacked in the face in the womens hockey.

The Olympic Games By Ashly

My favourite Olympic moment was when Lisa Carrington won the gold medal in the kayaking. She said that when she was paddling, all she was thinking about was gold medal, gold medal. Lisa was coming second and she swooped passed the girl in front of her. Her coach and her country but mostly her family were really proud of her. She had good respect for other athletes and she really knows how to use her maners. After her race she let out a big smile knowing that she won. Lisa is so happy and she believed in herself. Fantastic writing Ashly. Lisa is obviously someone to look up to and strive to be a champion like her. By Mrs Owen

Great Weekend Journal Writing by Mrs Owen

Hi A1.  I have enjoyed reading your weekend journal entries from 'Queen's Birthday Weekend as well as the Noho Marae that some of you went to.  However many of your pieces of writing needed a lot of editing as they did not make sense or did not have capital letters and fullstops in the right places.  Could you please read over your work before you save it next time so that I can see you have made an effort to edit it. Keep up the good work.

Friday Night Horror by Ethan Clover

On Sunday 5th June I went to Auckland to watch the Warriors v's Storms game. We had a banner. I don't know what it said on it. My sister Kitana and I went to get some chips and sauce. We were going to get a drink but the shop was closed. When the game finished I was so glad. We walked down the stairs and then we saw the popcorn shop. We got the sugary popcorn but we wanted the salted popcorn. Then we went in the car. We stopped at a cafe  and we saw Mr Picken. He had been to the game as well.

Awesome Holiday by Jayden

On Queen Birthday I went hunting with my dad. I cut myself with the knife on accidenet and I was crying then my dad put a plaster over my hand. Then we caught a deer with my dads gun and went home. It took a long time to get home because we were at Auckland. When finally got home I had a sleep. In the morning my dad woke me up to go to my aunty's. She said, "You look sleepy." My cousin was playing 'Blackcops'. I played with him until we went home. On Monday I  played 'Bullrush' outside with these kids then I went home.

Kapahaka Noho Weekend by Ashly

In the weekend I went to the Kapahaka Noho with my sister. There were about seventy children in the hall. First Mr.Allen asked the parents if they could introduce themelves to the children so we would know the parents names. After that Mr.Allen talked about what stuff we were going to do and what time we will do them. Next we did a little game, but we only did like Maori games. Then Mr.Allen made all of us kids line up to go to A5 for a Kapahaka practice. We finished the practice at about 8:05 or 8:10 at night. After we had the practice Mr.Allen made us line up again to go to the hall for dinner but as soon as we got to the basketball pole some kids started running. When some kids finished dinner they started getting into their pyjamas and playing games. Mr.Allen told us that we had to get our beds ready and get into pairs because we had to share a mattress with someone. When everyone was ready it got louder, mostly on the girls side because everyone started coming to the people who had lollies- mostly the boys. After the noise Mr.Allen made us go to sleep early because he already warned us kids about the noise so he sent us to bed early. We were to go to sleep at 10:30 pm but we were too noisy so he made us go to sleep at 10:00pm.

Queens Birthday Weekend - by Suhawna

On Friday the 1st of June it was teacher's only day. On Thursday I went home after school and I had to pack my bag to go to Auckland on Saturday. We were going for a special event. It was my cousins birthday, the day before the Queens 60th diamond jubilee. I was excited. My mum and my cousins mum made the cake, it looked like a tower. My cousin and I played outside. I tried to distract her from going inside to the kitchen or she would see the cake. She wanted to play computer games so we played in her room instead of the computer room. Mum told me not to open the fridge when my cousin was near, as the cake was in the fridge. At 2pm we got the cake out and sang the birthday song. She was happy that day. Before we left we gave her some money so she could buy what she wanted. I sat in the car on Sunday we were going to the mall. I saw my BFF Pareeya, I waved at her and she waved back. On Monday we went to Rainbow Springs and again I saw my BFF Pareeya. Pareeya and I went on the 'Big Splash' together. It was the best weekend ever!!

ANZAC Day by Mrs Owen

A1 completed some thought provoking activities last week while they were learning about the meaning of ANZAC Day. This is a sad time in our history but a time to remember what others have done for our Nation and all the people who live in it. I enjoyed going to the ANZAC Parade & memorial service- I felt very humbled & remembered my dad who fought in WW2 in the Navy- he was in submarines. Here he is in his navy uniform.

Cycle Safety

On Tuesday after moning tea A1 went out to the school field to do Cycle Safety. The helper's were Mark and Patrick. My favourite activity was 'Instant Stopping'. We played the 'Box Game' 1 and 2.

Introducing the A1 Team 2012

Hi everyone 'Welcome to A1's blog site for 2012.In our class there are 28 Year 5 and 6 children. Our current study topic for this term is 'Keeping Safe'. We will be looking at 'Cyber Safety' as our main focus. We have a diverse of cultures in our class- Chinese, Korean, Fijian, Indian, Cook Islands, Maori and European. We also have a few special needs children in our class & I am always pleased with the way that all children show a caring nature & are accepting of others. Next week we will be having our school Athletic champs so we have been training hard-out for this. We have some awesome sports talent in our class. We have also been enjoying swimming sessions in our school pool and were lucky to have had Erin from Swim NZ in to help us improve our techniques. This week we are involved in a Cycle Safety unit with Sport BOP. Already there have been improvements noted in our cycling skills & 4 children who couldn't ride, can now- wahoo!! Something else we have been working on is 'Managing our Impulsivity' & we now have some good strategies to follow in the class. We are looking forward to updating our blogs with our new learnings, so watch this space. We look forward to your great feedback.
